Google Dropping Old Browser Support

As of August 1st IE7 will no longer be supported

According to a June 1st Google Blog post the company will be dropping support for older version browsers starting August 1st. This is great news for the web as it will hopefully start to push more late adopters forward and allow web developers to continue to innovate.

The Google posting concludes with the ever so appropriate statement:

"As the world moves more to the web, these new browsers are more than just a modern convenience, they are a necessity for what the future holds."

The browsers which loose support are identified as follows:

"As of August 1st, we will discontinue support for the following browsers and their predecessors: Firefox 3.5, Internet Explorer 7, and Safari 3."

While PawPrint won´t drop support for any of these browsers just yet, we find it very encouraging that web giants like Google are taking this sort of proactive action and hopefully pushing people to update. Especially in the case of Internet Explorer 7 which remains a thorn in the side of development due to its numerous bugs and inconsistencies.
