Date Formats
For years I´ve been downloading upgrades and hoping to see date formats extended to include the dd-Mmm-yy format and also Www dd-Mmm-yy and Wwwwww, dd-Mmm-yy. They´re good ones for an international environment but they´ve never appeared. Any idea why?

Date Formats
Edwardo,
I´m not sure which version of WT you´re using (I decided to go back to the most stable version of WT 5.5 a long time ago) but maybe this will help... When selecting the date format (in WT 5.5) I found that I can actually type out the format I want in the drop down (I don´t think wwwww works use DDDDD instead). For instance: I can type in DDDDD, DD MMMMMM YYYY to produce the weekday, day date, full month name, and full year. So my WT reads (today) "Friday, 30 December 2005". Note that there are no dashes or slashes, and entering the comma into the format works. The weekday can be abbreviated by using DDD instead of DDDDD. Same with month and year MMM and YY. So it could read "Fri, 30 Dec 05" Something else that also makes the date appear neater: I add three or four spaces after the year to increase the separation of the date and time. So instead of having: Friday, 30 December 2005 15:15:30 I get: Friday, 30 December 2005 15:15:30 Although I haven´t played with any settings of WT 5.5 since its reinstallation around June/July 04 (I´ve been using this version that long without problems????) after finding 6.0 time comsuming and querky, you can also perform similar settings to the time mode. You just have to remember that hh and HH are different (12/24 hr). For instance I typed in HH:MM:SS ZULU and the clock displays 15:15:30 ZULU. I also added a couple of spaces after to increase the time separation from the right hand side of the cell border. Note: I also entered a couple of spaces in front of the date to do the same to the left side so each clock is not pushed up against each side border. So, yes you can customize the clock´s appearance (at least in WT 5.5) but take care as too much of a good thing will require a tiny display on a huge screen. That is, having five fully configured clocks will push them beyond certain screen boundaries (I like 800x600). So I limit the views to 5 time zones with two fully configured, ZULU and my time zone. Hope this helps, Gerry |
