5.5.2.748: Some time servers work, some donīt, SymmTime is OK
Using WT 5.5.2.748 on WinXP and Win95. Works great on both, and has for many years over several versions. Iīve used time.nist.gov for a long time as my sync server. I once used augean.eleceng.adelaide.edu.au, but it stopped working, and after checking it for quite a while, I just assumed it was off the air.
Then I found my ISP has a local time server (time.optusnet.com.au) and tried using it. Wouldnīt sync from either PC. I checked with the ISP support to see if it was a problem with my router (Linksys BEFSR41 cable modem router) or their config. Didnīt seem to be, router wasnīt blocking the requests, and so they pointed me to SymmTime, which was what they were using to test. SymmTime syncs fine with all the servers above, and many more, but WT 5.5 syncs with time.nist.gov, and not the other two (but WT also syncs with a bunch of others, e.g. time.nrc.ca). Iīd like to sync with my ISP time server. Anyone have any ideas? |
